  • Bought a bike here a couple of days ago and rode it home, only to find the chainline was out. It looked like the bb had moved (odd) so I took off the cranks and had a look. Sure enough it was loose, but really loose so both sides of the sealed cartridge moved freely but in concert (odder). I removed it, and it turns out the shell is totally stripped.
    I contacted the seller to ask if they knew about this to which the reply was that their uncle (a professional bike builder) had serviced it, so was ignorant to the state of the threads.
    I'm not sure where I stand on this, on the one hand it was a good deal but on the other I understand that thread less bb units need constant retightning. I guess I'm disappointed that I don't have a completely sound frame.

    Thoughts?

  • You were not told that the frame was sound and were provided with one that was not? Sounds like grounds for money back/full return.
