I'd probably end up selling one. 39mm is a really nice size. I tried on the new OP 114300, which has the same case as the 214270, and it was almost perfect.

Hear what you're saying. Am thinking keep both, one would become a bit of a beater and the other for best. Have been thinning out the collection (a little) recently sold a couple.
But my taste is definitely changing as I get older.

A beater rolex! I think you're on the wrong forum.

Lol.

Anyone know where I can find this starp? Also, is it as secure as a traditional buckle starp?

Evening all.
A simple question if I may.
http://watchesofknightsbridge.com/view-auction-catalogues.html (Lot 277)
Would you pay £6k for that? Its so far from my personal preferences that I wouldn't pay £1k for it.
I ask because I'm doing some proxy bidding this weekend and somebody I know is really keen on it and I just don't get it.

• #17162
Well, it is a Patek.

All music is noise.

I respect the Patek for not looking bling. But I'd be loath to spend that.

Cheers guys. Its a tough one to put a price on somebody's tastes. The key thing is that he is a collector and this will be Patek number ~20 so I doubt he'd pay stupid money for it as its not a particularly unusual one as far as I can tell.
I think I'm going to tell him that imo he should set a low limit on it unless he really loves it or "needs it" for his collection.
If I win it, I'll be sure to post some cheeky keyboard wrist pics.

BTW, if anybody else would like me to put a bid on something at WoK on Saturday I'm being paid to be there (until I have to leg it to the Emirates) so I'd be happy to help its a lot that comes up before 2pm.

hello , any tips for getting moisture out of the inside of a watch glass? may just bring it to a watch repair place but thought I would check here first , thanks
-
• #17169
You can try leaving it in a bag of rice for a few days.
-
• #17170
Remove caseback and leave somewhere warm, dust-free and preferably with a cover over it like a large glass.

being paid to be there?!
How does Auctioning work? Is the bottom price the suggested range?

He's an old business partner and friend who shares a love for watches. He lives in various places for tax reasons so I occasionally help him out if something like this crops up. There is a 4% extra fee to bid online so I'm helping him avoid that.
He gives me a list of lots he wants and an upper limit. I try and win as many as I can.
Yes, the expected selling price of that PP is £5.5k to £6.5K

Have you guys seen Lot 289? I reckon it'll sell well above guide price.

Thanks ! worked perfectly , took about 2 hours
After all of my naysaying several pages ago about the 39mm case 214270 Explorer. I'm actually really tempted now. Tried one on a few times as well and compared it with my 36mm case (which I still love).
Would it be extravagant to have 2 Explorers, one 36mm and one 39mm?
