RE the new one. I'm guessing it didn't come with suspension corrected forks originally. Are you keeping it this way?

Yes. I will be using the Kona P2 forks I modified for my touring bike. It has disc tab and a rack mounted. So essentially it will be like the other rockhopper, but with a front disc brake. If I have the chance I will weld a disc tab and support on rear as well
