  • I'm trying to copy stack and reach over from an existing frame to a hypothetical frame. I think I'm making this out to be far more complicated than it is.

Existing frame has a 170mm headtube with an integrated headset with a stack of 16.7mm.

Hypothetical frame has an undecided headtube length with a standard external headset with a stack of 36.6mm.

Is it simply a case of adding headset stack to headtube length (from my existing frame), then subtract my headset stack (from hypothetical frame) from this to give hypothetical headtube length?

    i.e.

    170+16.7 = 186.7
    186.7-36.6 = 150.1mm

Differences in upper and lower stack between headsets shouldn't make any difference? and there should be no effect on overall reach here?

Assuming the same fork length and BB drop, yes.
