Kinda horrible paint, thought

The plan is to paint the frame in a disgusting neon paint :)
I saw this green color today that I liked!
This is the fork I have ordered.

Great! Will be unique.
What are your plans for tyres / fenders / saddle / brakes ? -
• #5
it will be repainted, I think all kaffenback graphics and paint looks like crap :)
-
• #6
I like the paint. Reminds me of the early cheap MTB phase. Raleighs and the like.
Dunno about the graphics though.

SLR gelflow, works best for my ass!
I will start with 32mm gatorskins.
Shimano BR CX77 brakekit, I have heard that they will work well.
No plans for fenders yet..

Color is awesome, graphics under clearcoat :(

I've been thinking of getting one of these, because the price appeals (& it's steel) but I can't find a place for it in the stable. :(
Do you reckon you'll need to cut the steerer?
-
• #10
No i will buy spacers for 50£ ;)
The frame feels very affordable.
I will slam the carbon forks, and leave like 5cm extra on OG forks, so I have been possible to change position when I am out and touring.

Pastel pink frame pastel green fork

Dont paint. It looks like the kind of spray art you see on the side of vans in 80s movies

Links for the fork?
-
• #15
+1 for liking the paint as it is
-

I have a fork like that. You can just squeeze 25mm tires into it. Fork axle-to-crown is 370mm cx is usually around 395mm.
There is also very little room for the disc rotor. So only works with some hubs / setups.
Other than that it is nice :) -

same fork (not my bike) -
• #20
Cool thanks, that's great info.

that sucks haha :)
know any nice chinese forks with 390-400 a-c ?
-
• #22
I have the exact same fork and I just put a 28mm on archetype in and it fits.....just... no room for guards though. Wouldn't be room with a narrower rim I don't think
-
• #23
Also I was going to do the same thing and build a kaff with a cheap chinese carbon fork but I've just succumb to this....

ouf, that one looked nice!

I received a package yesterday :)
My first project thread here.
I have always wanted a CX bike with discs, planet X sold the tribal dragon kaffenback for 149£ so why not.
I think it is the perfekt budget framset for touring or coruier riding in winther.
My plan is to build it up with a full carbon CX fork for work, and have the OG fork for touring.
-I will build custom DIY front and rear rack for touring.
-I'll modify the OG fork so it gets a bit more threads for rack.
-New paint!!
Setup plan.
-Sram Red crankset 130bcd, wolftooth chainring 45t-48t ish
-105 shifters
-Ultegra derailleur 10spd
-Ultegra casette 11-25
-Bullshit wheels
-FSA Orbit headset
-FSA wing 420mm compact bar
Some rad stem and seatpost, dont know yet..
testing.
headset.
