  • I checked both Vittoria Open Corsa tyres by measuring the width of the rubber thread on both 23mm and 25mm.

    They're exactly the same.

Bit annoying as that mean there's more sidewall on the 25mm, thus more exposed on wide rims.

  • Just compared my 20mm and 23mm: both 19mm tread.

So they're sticking the same tread on 20mm, 23mm and 25mm carcasses!

Measured a 25mm Open Pave and that has 23mm of tread: I don't suppose you have a 27mm to compare?

  • I do actually, a 27mm Open Pave, will measure it when I can, actually got plenty of tyres in the shop to measure, probably easier that way.

That also explain why @TM have problem with his Clément Strada LLG in 28mm, having the same tread as the 25mm mean the sidewall is much more vulnerable.

Incidentally, Continental tyres tread increase as you go bigger, least that what I can tell from the 28mm and 25mm GP 4000sII I have.

  • The green part is also the contact point, so 34mm front edge to edge on 27mm open pave.
