No need to shim, steel will take up the difference without cracking. Bit of carbon grip paste and you're sorted.

Yeah, just tighten the stem up. What I'm running here, albeit with alu bars. Never slipped.

I'd avoid. Last set of battered (chewed up lacquer) monkeylites I got snapped after a month. Spend some more and get some in a decent condition.
