Same here, I put a fairly big effort in coming out of the second lap and into the third. Once I hit the climb I had popped, took me what felt like two laps to recover and go again! I was gasping for water, the GF later told me she had a bottle for me in her bag the whole time. She thought I wouldn't want it haha, maybe next time!
My thoughts on yesterday:
1) Weird having such short laps
2) If you go too hard, even on a small section (the hill) you might never really recover
3) You can lose a lot of time if you bin it and get cramp as a result
