  • City of God - wow!

    this

  • Did anybody see this yet?

  • Inside Out is AMAZING

  • Yes! It's brill.

  • Fight Club

just don't ask me to talk about it

  • Great film.

  • Have a cool little short film:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBkBS4O3yvY

NSFW dialogue, visuals are fine though, so headphones if at work.

  • Ha, that was pretty good. Bit Rick and Morty.

  • thats the morgue monkey from ncis. quite entertaining too.

  • Amazing mash up of all the nightclub scenes in films: http://www.youtu.be/QajyNRnyPMs

  • Attack on Titan. The Japanese animerated cartoon series television melodrama. Bleak, odd but mildly imaginative / entertaining. Godzilla meets the walking deaderu. There's a live action-ish movie. Apparently it sucks.

  • Hiroshima mon amour.

A whiff of pretentious but it IS really good, not just cinematographically (great bw photography) but some scenes got me in the feelz too.

Some themes (war and the burden of memories) reminded me of Andrei Tarkovskis Mirror, also a great movie.

I feel like a film student now, who watches old B/W movies eh... :p

  • I saw Straight Outta Compton on Friday.

Problematic in some ways, but more in terms of what it doesn't show than what it does. Also not a film for strong female characters.

I really enjoyed it though, some good laughs, great music, and quite a bit of controversy. I went with a group of strong female characters who loved it too. I think if you accept what it is and what it's not before you go, and you have any interest in late 80s/early 90s hip hop it's a must.

  • Fort Tilden. Portrait of satisfyingly annoying over-entitled faux artsy NY goils. Warning contains bikes, boobs and beaches. 7/10 would watch again.

Listen Up Philip. Portrait of satisfyingly annoying over-entitled literary academic. Warning contains bikes, books and bitches. 9/10 would watch again.

Dirty Weekend. Portrait of irritating, shallow, poorly realised business travellers stranded in ABQ. Warning contains bisexuals, bondage and bad acting. No bikes, just a micro scooter. 2/10 would not watch again.

  • I'm not a big fan of westerns but even so I can't believe I hadn't got round to watching McCabe & Mrs Miller before. Bloody bleak, though.

It also has one of the best antagonists in Butler, a sort of cross between Anton Chigurh and Brian Blessed.

  • I love a good western but wouldn't say I've hunted out the gold of the genre. Haven't seen McCabe & Mrs Miller. Will purchase.

  • Ok, havent been on this thread for ages. So without looking back through the last couple of months, what is the consensus on Suicide Squad?

I knew nothing of it, and saw the trailer last night. I'm intrigued.

  • im hopeful, they seem to be following the new 52 style of the squad. Im still not sold on the joker and the rumours but I'm prepared to give it a shot.

  • The Armstrong Lie - I think the director took it too easy on Lance, or maybe he just got played like everyone else that fell for this psychopathic cunt

The Wrestler - third viewing, just excellent, Rourke is fantastic and the low budget really brings the craft of filmmaking to the fore

  • I particularly liked the fact it was set in the Pacific Northwest, rather than the Southwest as usual, as well as acknowledging that in 1900 a lot of Americans still wouldn't have had American accents.
