Philips head size on a multitool?

Posted on
  • Hi guys, simple question I think...

Whats the size of the phillips head on your average bike multitool? I think the limit screws on a rear mech are m4 so according to google that'd mean it'd be a phillips #1. Anyone know for sure? Need the answer for a project I'm working on.

  • I would say multi tool Phillips are #P2.

  • Not sure if this is relevant to your project but the limit screws on Shimano mechs aren't actually Philips but a Japanese standard called JIS. They look practically the same but until I found this out, I always wondered why Phillips screwdrivers just didn't quite fit the limit screws, even though I'd been using them for years. Unfortunately, it's not easy to get hold of these JIS screwdrivers in the UK so Phillips will have to do.
