  • This I why I'll never ride more than 300ks. Rides like PBP turn even the brightest minds to Camembert.

  • I never ride more than 300ks because I have the mind of a Camembert.

Sorry probably an insult to that cheese.

  • The white inside sleeve lining of my Rapha Paul Smith jacket is flaking off all of a sudden... that it totally fucked?

  • Now that summer seems to have officially departed, am thinking about the winter wardrobe...

My Pro Team Jacket is very old and dying. Am thinking of just getting another as they are magnificent garments, but was wondering what the other options are - a lot of brands seem to have produced jackets that do the same 'keep you warm but not too hot on winter training rides' type thing, does anyone have recommendations / suggestions?

  • The other option is a gabba. There are pages and pages of debate in this thread over which is better.

  • Following on from the above - I was a small in the first generation PTJ, but have heard they've slimmed them down even more since then. Would I need another small or a medium of the newer ranges? I'm small in all tops except stupid italian brands like castelli and sportful

  • True - but Gabba doesn't keep me warm enough! Am a bit of a wuss y'see

  • Castelli also do the Alpha jacket. Basically a warmer Gabba as I understand it. I've only heard good things, but not cheap.

  • Why keep showing the yellow bottles online when you can't get any !!

  • Last winter i spent most of y time in the castelli espresso. You can still grab a few bargains on them if you search around. They don't have any water repellence but are very warm.

  • Assos intermediate S7

Read some customer reviews here. Apparently good for about 5 to 15c:

I bought one second hand (new condition) that I'm looking forward to using now the weather is a bit colder. Seems very well made, perfect fit with excellent pockets and various technical fabrics.

Won't be as water-resistant as Gabba.

  • All food for thought, Ta. Ideally wanna keep it below the ptj £200 mark, but it seems that even alternatives by slightly cheaper-but-not shite brands like sportful are £150+

Have found a last year ptj in medium for a good price but am not sure if it will be too big....? My very old one is small

  • Pulled my two season merino gloves out the drawer this morning, hole in left hand.
    Repair or out of warranty?

  • Anyone know if the hardshell jacket will be getting a colour refresh soon? Large has been out of stock in black for ages

  • x-post from the memes thread.

  • Looks bloody awful though!

  • I definitely size up in the new cut PTJ. Can you go try on a medium?

  • Sorry to ask the same question again, would like to buy the GB country jersey and looking for discount code, hope anyone can give away the code if they don't need it, thanks a million.

  • Unfortunately no repair on merino goods

  • The gabba isn't really like a pro team jacket. The latter is a jacket, the former is a jersey.

PTJ still my favourite ever piece of cycling clothing.

  • Yes thanks, and defo not moths as I have a shedload of anti moth thingies in the drawer.

I have the merino arm warmers that developed a split in the seam, told no repairs to merino but have a £50 voucher instead. I may ask the question but their customer services seem to have changed their tune in recent months.

  • Anti moth things don't eliminate moths in my experience. And holes don't spontaneously appear.
