Vulpine Clothing

Vulpine are obviously more casual cycling/mtb oriented rather than race stuff.

It's actually a decent jacket, for three season cycling in. Just that colour scheme is totally marmite.

And I mean pootling to and from work, around town etc. It is not suitable for riding fast in.

It's kind of like howies stuff but with extra pockets .

It's obviously not for me. I just have 'clothes' and 'cycling clothes' - I can't be arsed with all this overlapping stuff anymore.

I'm sure both people who bought it love it.

I bought some socks, hat and shorts yesterday - things that I can wear either commuting or at work. Their other stuff is not for me. Like if Outlier were from Sudbury

i bought a jersey in the last sale. Its really long and gets holes in it really easily. I'm hoping the gillet will perform better.

The sizing is pretty massive as well. Small is too big on me in the stuff I have tried and they don't make anything in XS.

Just received my button merino jersey and soft-shell gilet.

Initial thoughts....

Love the jersey. I guess I'll see how riding in pure merino rather than a sports blend goes. It's also pointed out to me that I'm putting on weight.

The gilet I'm less sure on. The actual garment seems great and feels incredibly well made. The size (M) however is odd. I'm not even sure how to describe it.

The section from my chest to my shoulders seems too long. So while the bottom sits in the right place for me (tall people would struggle) the top half sits too high. So it looks like I have hunched shoulders. I don't think being in a riding position will improve it.

It's almost like they designed it for Tom Hardy when he was in Warrior.

Don't get the fuss about most of the Vulpine stuff, though the socks are lovely - just buy a size or two up since they shrink a lot in the wash, even at 30 degrees.
I've also bought their down-ish jacket, which is quite nice for a warm, sling it in the bag sort of jacket.
Most of the stuff looks like it belongs in the Boden catalogue at best though. Over-designed too. Why do you need magnets on a jacket?

Vulpine clothing is for cyclist who also like to use bike to go out and about. I like to have a jacket I can worn when going out with friends and doesn't blind them because it is a bright yellow color.
I got their latest jacket (which lets warm air get out from the underarm section) and I have found is one of the best cycling/commuting jacket so far.
The two magnets on the back hold a flap held onto the inside that you can take out to cover your ass when raining and for extra visibility.

True their stuff is expensive (and that is why I only buy them when on sale), but I found they are worth the (sale) price. Also because there isn't much stylish (cheap) stuff out there for us anyway.

Why do you need magnets on a jacket?

Can't speak to how they're used on other jackets, but on the soft-shell gilet the one of the rear pockets has magnets.

It seems like a pretty good idea so that if it rains you have an easily accessible pocket with a flap over it to protect it from the elements.

I'll be curious to see how I rate the ones on the neck collar though.

Also it's magnet lock pockets quickly. Alternatives would be velcro (horrible, particularly if you have merino stuff around) or clips (then you spend time fiddling with them to lock a pocket)

Gaaah. Have also been told that the softshell I ordered was actually out of stock at the time.

Rang up immediately after I ordered it, as it looked like the website was having issues, but was told everything was fine.

However there is problem with the magnets on the collar of the jackets in that they attach to each other if you don't have it closed and you end up with a folded in half collar. I've had to put paper clips on mine to keep them apart. Kinda lessens the look.

Otherwise I agree - it's a jacket for when I've gone somewhere by bike - not a cycling jacket.

Oh didn't have this problem, maybe because we have a different one.

They do all that. Less naff looking, better fit, more functional with great customer service and after care.

Vulpine will always be true to its origin i.e. an afterthought of Rapha; one of many 'Damn I wish I had that idea before'.

I never wore Rapha stuff, but they all look like cyclists stuff, not urban cyclists that is.

I've worn both and honestly I rate DHB over Vulpine.

For now I'm stocked up with Vulpine stuff. I know I should try

Also is Rapha quality that much superior to Vulpine? They look both great to me.
