  • just got a head clip stem off eBay :( damn...

  • You could always pass it on, or even better, start a new build from it :)

  • no way :) last one has been expensive enough and i haven't ridden it yet.

  • btw all headclip stems were short??

  • Most of them I would say as the frame geometry was different back then. Top tubes were longer than seat tubes in many cases.

  • Price drop.

  • The headclip stem I have got won't let the handlebars slide in. This is, however, a tad too long for my fork steerer? and too short as a stem :/
And it doesn't really make sense to have the track stem albeit it looks amazing.

  • Dat stem.

    Srsly. Lovely stem.

If I wasn't completely over old builds, I would be all over that stem like a rash.

    GLWS.

  • The headclip stems have a smaller diameter than later bars.

The shaft on that stem could be cut if needed but the reach could still be too short for you.

You can always use a standard 1" stem of the length needed until you find a head clip of the same length.
A shorter stem, assuming it is not too short for you, would give you a more upright cycling position.

  • I was trying to fit the Il Primo bars you gave me. No luck.
For now I'm using the Il Primo stem you also gave me, albeit black, but that one broke on the top around the nut (will post pictures).
Still safe to use as it is held in place by the headclip anyway.

  • Around the bolt? Have you over tighten it?

  • nope...it was actually un-tighten.I did put it before, then removed (don't remember why) and when putting it back I found it broken.

  • Any pics?
    Price drop

  • shall do in the morning

  • Here. You can see how the whole thing below the nut has detached from the stem.

  • No, that is just a washer. It might have been attached to the stem slightly by the paint they used, but it is normal.
Look at this picture. Do a quick Google search and you will see they are all like that.

  • Ah I thought it was part of the stem!

damn however painted it then :)

    Thanks.

  • Yes, I don't know why they do these things!

I forgot to mention that I might be in London tomorrow Friday so I might be able to bring the hubs or bars, stems if anyone is interested..
