  • The next step is going to be when the collective deal for overseas rights is done away with and Man Utd, City, Chelsea etc can sell their rights individually and get even more cash.

  • Barca and Real already do that with La Liga don't they?

  • Ending the collective deal for overseas TV rights? When does that happen? That year might be Liverpool's year.

  • In Norway at least...

  • They do but the other teams have rebelled (sort of) and la liga or the organisation that runs it have tweaked the to rights deal so that evey other team that isn't barca or real get a more democratic split of the money, still not great but better than it was.
Think they saw how successful the premier league is at selling its footballing product and they are trying to do something similar.

  • Wind bag - punch bag? Whatever.

Check out the ego on you - you pompous old fart!
I do write in this thread without addressing you... In fact I've more or less given up taking the bait of your meandering paraphrasing of articles I've already read/ podcasts I've already heard. Too easy.

It's just not fun anymore, Corny.
I've changed. It's not me, its you. If you want this relationship to continue you're going to need some new (original) material this season.

  • Don't change Corny

We love you the way you are, you big old Guardian quoting troll xxxx

  • Lots of sand in Spurs supporters vaginas today.

I'd save some ire for when Kane is crocked.

  • Arsenal fans aren't much better.

I'm relatively annoyed by not signing anyone but then again not sure who we could've signed that was available and an upgrade. Vidal and Turan are probably the only movers I'd really have liked to see at Arsenal - Pedro possibly.

Anyway, it's City's to lose now

  • I think West Brom have been playing ok football.
If Rondon and Berahino can form a partnership then there's goals - a slight lack of quality in the midfield would be my concern - Yacob and Fletcher sit but there's not much spark there.

  • I'm loving the way Swansea and Palace are setup and playing at the moment - Swansea in particular have switched it up a notch with a couple of key additions and a slight change in formation. Goalmis is helping things

  • Andre Ayew is one of the best signing so far great player and has fitted in well at Swansea.

^^^ For Arsenal, Lasana Diara, William Carvalho?

  • Nope, I reckon Kane has had his season in the sun, he can go back to being a bang average Championship striker now.

Shame united didn't waste £60m on him.

  • It's what we are like against the big teams that really matters though.

  • Shelvey is the main difference. Liverpool are going to regret letting him go when he becomes twice the player Henderson is.

  • Isn't he already? I'd say over the last two seasons he's had a bigger impact on his team's games than Henderson has had.

  • Certainly a much better player than Henderson, but not twice as good. Yet.

  • They should have bought Sigurdson when they had the chance I think.

Alas, Swansea are definitely one of the more entertaining teams in the league and kudos to Monk for taking them to the next level.

For van Gaal to say he couldn't get his team to adapt to the change in tactics that Swansea made says a lot of what they've achieved in a short space of time.

  • Sigurdson is so immobile and kind of lazy in many respects. I think he's a bit of 'big fish small pond' type of player. You really have to build a team around him to get the most out of him, which would never happen at a big team.

  • Unless you're a CB?

  • Love you to Dan!
Can't wait for the next admonishment, grumpy teacher moment. Keep 'em coming.

Will see what other zeitgeisty football points of view I can find to keep it interesting...

There is also the issue of Levy’s previous coming back to haunt him. Put simply, you can only put noses out of joint so many times. Southampton felt sore last summer when Levy took Pochettino from them, and followed that up by making unacceptable moves for Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez. They were never going to let Wanyama go this summer and they were absolutely never going to sell him to Tottenham
There are numerous stories within the game of Levy making offers that serve only to infuriate – most recently, one of his bids for Berahino featured payments of £3.5m each year for five years. It might have added up to an OK bid but it did not create the right climate for further negotiations. At West Brom, they joked that Tottenham would still be paying their proposed add-ons when Berahino was drawing his pension. Levy is a famously hard negotiator but he can and does make things more difficult for himself.

What comes around, goes around. Serves him right I guess, imagine Pochettino doing a Bielsa over this.

  • I remember Levy trying the same move when they signed Andy Reid of all people.

  • Moves to united you mean.

  • That's not exactly high praise.
