Thank BQ. Well up for borrowing the Dano at some point. That's exactly the vibe i'm after. I have a squier with flatwounds also which does an ok job. I'm prefer my old 50s P-bass back but there you go. *sob
In terms of amp sims I have some really nice plugins so i'm not overly fussed about standalone boxes. This is my favourite by miles:
I had a second gen' pod (the guitar one) fo ra bit in 2007 which was fine for messing about with but never really got beyond that thin plastic modelling amp sound. Software has come a long way since then.
