  • Nope. It's an entirely theoretical exercise. I'm after a fundamentally retro bass sound. I have plugins aplenty but just have a vague hankering for a better bass sound on my home recordings.

  • What are you after in terms of sound? I've got a short scale Danelectro bass I bought on here which is great for that 60's pick-bass sound if you want to borrow it. Quite toppy, not so much sustain, you know the sort of thing. I also have a fretless Squier Jazz with flatwounds on it which can deliver a reasonable approximation of the upright bass sound.

    It might be worth getting a Line6 Bass Pod (or a Pod with the bass amp model pack) if you're recording or plugging into the PA, to try a few different amp sims.
