Welcome to cat servitude, they do that. Learn to accept this will happen and only to leave plates and cups unattended when you have finished.

Thank god ours don't try to eat off our plates. They don't wake us up at night either, and they let us rub their bellies.
All this good is offset by the idiot one breaking his leg, and his idiot owner not having him insured at the time.
