Don't worry. There'll be a phasing in period for this. First, there will be a review period, as we can't expect these haulage/transport businesses to have thought about safety seriously before. Then they will have to allow for retrofit of existing vehicles, which will also take a large amount of time. Then, just as the deadline approaches, there will be a legal challenge that will go through all levels of courts and then be upheld, leaving us back a square one.

Don't get me wrong, being stuck in a tunnel for hours is no fun, but one might argue that seeing your friends and relatives killed and your country destroyed, then trekking across Europe, is actually "horrendous".

C'mon Fox, you're over-egging it a bit there. I doubt trekking across Europe is that horendous, it's the casual pursuit of trust-fund hipsters.
