The link below might be better. There rubbing marks on the inside of the free hub and the axle is scored quite a lot.

In terms of the wheel, it was making a bit of noise, which didn't seem normal. It also wasn't freewheeling well, and felt like it had too much grease, or was too tight if that makes sense? When freewheeling it was 'pushing' the crank forward and would drop the chain if back-pedalled.

My guess would be debris jamming the cassette body partially, against the axle.
The question is, where did the debris come from?Top bet is probably a cassette body bearing that has broken up - not terminal, we can replace those, even in the types (2000 up to 2014) that were not designed to have the cassette body bearings replaced ... we developed a way to do it that is reliable and leaves the body easily serviceable in future too.
With the scoring on the axle, we would advise replacement - alloy alloys are notorious for fracture at stress raisers, and scores that deep, even in a thick alloy axle, would certainly qualify as stress-raisers!
The axle you need is FH-BO001, cost at RRP £47.25. We have stock due on 02.09.15 (normally we have a few in stock but out at present, we don't sell them that often but did sell a couple during the factory holidays).
Cassette body service with a pair of high-end SKF or FAG double-sealed bearings - £40.00 against £79.00 for a new body.

On line the freehub bodies are fifty quid. Replacing the bearings in the free hubs is quite straight forward with correct tools. I use wheels manufacturing bearing pullers but the time along with the cost of the bearings does not make it worth it except on free hubs no longer available or the FH-BU015 with is very expensive.
I stripped down a the rear hub of a Campagnolo Neutron Ultra wheelset as it sounded a bit gritty. Most of the grease was relatively okay, however when disassembling the freehub and pulling out the axle, there seemed to be metal debris. After cleaning everything, below is what I had left. Is it terminal, and what could cause this? Aside from this issue, the rear wheel is okay. The question is, if its terminal, is it worth the investment to fix? I imagine I need a new axle and a new freehub. Any ideas?
