He's been doing a bit of night riding recently and it could be that he is aiming to ride at night when the traffic is a little lighter and arrive in Istanbul in the day time.

You can leave him a message on his trackleaders page:

I could if I have Facebook but I don't because I am too old and have been firmly instructed to stay away from it by my daughters.

I just posted: "You have a lot of followers over on LFGSS... do pop in and say hi when you're done (http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/228045/?offset=1350)"

They just don't want you to see what they've been up to...

Si je viens a Londres, je ne manquerai pas de passer te voir ;)

Believe me, I would prefer not to know.

The lack of movement on the tracker is so frustrating... Clive's suggestion of a night ride is possible but it seems unlikely that he'd choose to spend 20+ hours i his current location. I really hope we get to know more of his story and hear about his finish. If the batteries are out on his tracker then it's not inconceivable that he might be finishing this evening.

riding the night is not a good option, i would ride in the morning when all the dog sleep, or the rest of the day when people are awake for help in case of dog attack

Over 22 hours since he last moved. I think this is just about the longest break he has had.

Hope he's okay.
In the interim, here's part two of Jim Cameron's write up;

Did you remove this post... it was showing up yesterday but seems to have disappeared now.
No movement on the tracker for over 36hours... @Transcontinental on Facebook saying they think it's a battery error:
"It looks very much like the batteries - reported as low with the last transmission. Understandably that close to the end riders have other things on their mind."

It has now been a day and a half. I think that we have to assume that David's dot is now one of the ghost dots that litter the continent and beyond. I really hope that he completed the ride uneventfully. It would be great to hear his story one day.
For now he has set a benchmark.
Chapeau David in an amazing ride. 32 or 33 days, day after day after day. Heat, rain, mountains, atrocious road surfaces, dogs, fatigue, hunger, thirst, lack of sleep. Chapeau!
@Katie-Coo 66? Gives me more time to prepare. My only concern now, other than having the time to do it, is the issue of dogs that Stephane raised and many others have mentioned. I have somewhat of a phobia about dogs.

@cliveo so the Sedona cafe (the finish line) haven't reported anything. Also David's mum is on the Facebook site, hopefully upon his finish she'll get a call and inform all of us - it's now been 12 hours since she last posted anything.
Also I wouldn't worry too much about dogs, they're more bark than bite. They never made contact with me they'd just follow barking.

Facebook have shut down my account because I don't use my real name.

Find a pair who will fight dogs for you (or being the rabbit or a human shield) :D

The rabbit sounds like a great idea. Could always cook it if hungryy or skin it if cold. Versatile!
True but I do so hope it is not the case. After following the race for the past month, it would be tragic to miss the last few kilometers for want of battery power
