  • Dunno. I wouldn't ride Open Paves in the winter in DK, but if you wouldn't mind doing it in the UK, I guess I see no reason for not giving the Challenges a go. Weird logic perhaps. I just thought puncture protection would be the same, as they seem to have similar weight, thread pattern and size.

    PR: 300 tpi, 27mm, 285g,
    OP: 320, 27mm, 285g,

The lower tpi on the PR suggest to me that, although not a lot, sidewalls will be tougher. And they state: "Road / Cobble / Gravel Racing / Big Riders" Which sounds like me

Tour magazine did a "wide racing tyres" test in 2014, which included Challenge PR and Conti GP4000S II (28mm), but not Vittoria Open Pave: Conti beat Challenge on every count.

PR was slower than even a 23mm GP, had the worst puncture protection of all tyres tested and Tour noted that "Tyre gives little feedback as regards grip limit and suddenly slips when over the limit."

I fitted OP last Autumn and haven't removed them: no punctures or serious cuts (lots of flint around here); the rear will need replacing soon.
