I did all of last winter on Paves, think I got 2 punctures? On really shitty Chilterns roads. For me an occasional puncture is worth feel + grip of a decent tyre over something more puncture resistant.

Commuting or racing/training? For me, not having to get covered in shit whilst repairing flats in the pissing rain outweighs any tyre feel advantage.
Once again, factor in @umop3pisdn weighs as much as Hoy's left leg so his durability statements need to be adjusted if you're a heavier lump of human.

Haven't ridden a winter in the UK yet. Will Challenge Paris Roubaix or Open Pave just be plain stupid to use? Won't mind tyres getting dirty, but will I be standing roadside, angry and frustrated?
In DK I would have gone for Durano Plus or GP4000 with anti puncture belt (don't know the correct term).
