How old? I would be interested to get some info/see some pix if it's an original Claud.

If you send me some pics I can try and id it for you. Realistically anything pre 1970 will sell better, especially if it's a track frame. Anything post 1970 was generally a bit rubbish and hence low value.

Ahh, the bike that started my descent into this silly hobby was a Claud Butler. It had a crack where the head tube met the down tube.

The Claud Butler marque was sold in (I think) 1957, anything newer than that isn't a genuine Claud.

thanks - will do.

The early Holdsworth Clauds were pretty good though. Maybe I'm just biased due to owning a Challenge:

It's a 1949-55 'Claude Butler Welded'. Worth £3-400 of anybody's dollar. It's complete and original paint. Difficult to find in either condition.

This seat tube decal was applied after 1952-57.

Cheers, Colnago - that's brilliant work on your part. Great to know it's a genuine Claud. Many thanks.

Your welcome, anytime.
Are there any serious Claud Butler fans/collectors on here? I'm looking to put up for sale an old Claud on the Classifieds page, but the kind of stuff that's on there at the moment - and is moving - isn't much of a guide, in terms of desirability, value and whether this is the correct platform for this type of machine. A conversation with someone in the know would helpful.
