  • Would love some hive-mind advice on what are currently considered robust but supple/comfortable tyres for my road biek. Got some compass tyres on my commuter and the experience has been a revelation in that a comfy tyre and a fast tyre don't have to be exclusive.

I suspect I'm already using a reasonable candidate (23c Conti GP4000sII) but willing to consider other options.

Probably can't go much bigger than 23 because of brake clearance on the rear (and I want to re-fit crud roadracers when appropriate). I know Conti's tend to come up big, though.

I am also into gumwalls because I'm a bit of a fashion victim. Clement Strada? Challenge Elite? Vittoria Open Corsa?

    Where should I be looking?

  • Cool cool. How d'you find the wear? Though they're going on my "weekend" bike so it's not the biggest issue.

They tend to come up true to size? They'll be on Mavic Ksyriums which I think have a 15mm internal width? I suppose anything's gonna be a bit bulby!
