  • No wonder when I asked about front rack options for le tandem carbon forks , Matt told me to GTFO! Michael, sorry to hear this.

  • From the photos it looks like the rack mounts were 'brazed on' but using bonding instead. I thought that the rack mounts would have had lips on and woven onto the fork, kinda like exposure light handlebar mounts.

  • How frustrating. Still hopefully it can be resolved once it gets back to the UK. At least he's managed to keep things working for the time being. Maybe we have a triumvirate of bike breakers, with @HoKe doing the honors for track bikes, Laner for bikes on tour and @IR for everything else

  • We will resolve this, and we'll make it up to Laner.

However frustrating Matt and I are finding this I am sure it's only a shadow of what Laner is feeling, hopefully his tour will be ok despite it - he certainly seems to be displaying some ingenuity.

  • It's alright he can just let @TM take the weight. From what I hear @laner is no stranger to sandbagging ;)

  • Yes, if one good thing is coming out of this its clear that yourself and Matt are making every effort to resolve it. A good advertisement for the services of Talbot, unlike some other frame builders ...

  • Who needs rack mounts when you've got chicken?!

  • is laner vegan only in london?

  • Just to mention, none of this is talbots fault as it work done by an outside Contractor. Matt and Neil have advised solution to fix it when I'm back and I planned for potential snapping so and won't ruin the next 3 weeks!

  • It's vegan chicken

  • As long as the chicken didn't eat meat or animal by products it's vegan. Simples.

  • Grain fed vegan chicken

  • Tms bike and luggage was 33kg, mine was about 20kg, can't sandbag much more than that

  • 33kg! Jeez. Fuck lugging that about.

How's the trip going? The Croatia coast is nuts. Loved it.

  • Innit , wishing I has spent the extra £500 and saved 5kg...

    33kg + water #FML

  • Could have taken less stuff and not spent more. Who needs a toothbrush?

You get used to the weight and don't notice it. Just wait till you ride the bike without it loaded up, you'll fall off because it handles so different!

  • Yeah I know, last time I went touring though I was so under prepared I slept shit every night (tarp and jungle bag, no liner, no matt, no thermals, cold as fuck even mid summer in west France.)

I should harden the fuck as we go , and some stuff will get lighter as we go. Shame all the hilly days are at the beginning.

  • Yeah! A bad nights sleep sucks when touring.

    Enjoy Albania!

  • Vegan fed vegan chicken.

  • I hear steel forks are good for touring.

  • Was looking at the PX London road a couple of days ago, pretty sure it has mid-blade rack eyelets, might be worth seeing if you can find out where they get them from @Dammit ?
