find out the mileage on the hub,
if its reasonable- bid up to the limit,
then bin the rest of the rig and build it again onto a Surly,
or a SVEN tourer -

The brakes might not look much but I have a set of those just branded up as Shimano XT M755 and they are pretty darned good and there's a Brooks on there too and though the frame ain't too attractive, those sliding dropouts don't look too bad. Reckon it'd look a lot better painted another colour.

dude , do you even know what that frame is?

Shame about all those different shades of tan that don't match.

@M_V That's not a bad way to get a Rohloff and some bits you could probably use, of course it's dependent on the condition of the R hub, which could be trashed. They're being transparent with S/N and I think you can contact either SJS or Rohloff themselves with s/n and find out if it's legit or reported stolen.
I "think" the s/n makes it about 2001/2002 but it's not the age that does them in it's lack of servicing/maintenance. -

Now I really want one. Moved away from silly standards, although that does mean an offset crank for proper 3" tyre in the rear, but opens up a world of cross comparability with standard 29er wheels.

Could the new Genesis be interesting? 27.5+, available in the next 6 months or so I think and there's a bouncy option version...

The one I linked isn't the Longitude, it's a new model, think they're on track to arrive in November so I guess they'll post info about it soon...

Interesting!

Good point, I assumed the design had morphed into the new longitude, but that black one does appear more trail orientated. I think I'd find it hard to resist the extra braze-ons though.

Here's my personal contribution- at a puny 47c tyre I'm not sure it quite ticks the 'monsteur' box, but I think it's got good 'adventure' potential! Board rack is a work in progress but this is the result of today's tinkering:

Anyone using geared drop levers for technical off road riding?
I've ridden technical stuff with ss drop levers before but I've just fitted drops and an Alfine Versa sti to my Surly 1x1 and finding that if I hold on to the hoods and use my index and middle fingers around the front to brake and keep my ring finger and pinky wrapped around the bars, braking pushes the shift lever into my ring finger/pinky. To get proper braking I need to wrap all my fingers around the front of the lever but this compromises my control of the bike.
More practice needed or are these Versa levers really not the best for technical riding? The shift lever definitely seems more prominent on them than on some road stis I've experienced.
Dredging this thread to post this potentially bargainous bike that's too far south for me,
