Final Year Dissertation help!

Posted on
  • Hey there guys,

So im doing a sport science degree and about to start my final year in september. I want to get a head start on this and I need your help!

I want to do it on bicycle aerodynamics. How its progressed in the years, how its benifical and why it is, why its so important and all that jazz.

I am looking for all the articles I can find atm and looking at the aerodynamics of everything to do with cycling, frame, components, the effects of drafting, disadvantages of real aero stuff and cross wids etc etc

So anything would be real useful if you know or have anything!

I was also thinking, what about all the literature from bicycle companys when developing new parts. They must have some sort of justifaction of why they have developed their new frames/wheels like this? Is there anyway of getting hands on this? As this would be very very useful!

Help me get a First in my final year!!!!!

  • @mdcc_tester might be able to help?

  • Any help would be ace! I would be grateful.

  • Good read! thank you

  • @mdcc_tester might be able to help?

Nope. @josh isn't the first to come here with a half-arsed dissertation idea asking us to write it for him, and he won't be the last. The ones who PM me get referred to Arkell vs. Pressdram :-)

  • Erm... let me Google Scholar that for you

  • Jesussssss Christ!! I only asked for a little help, mainly in finding the manufacture justifications for product designs which I've yet to find. Granted I've only looked breifly as this is just an idea.

    But thanks for the reassurance.

  • finding the manufacture justifications for product designs which I've yet to find

The ones who do their jobs properly spend tens of thousands of dollars on development of a single product. Why would they publish any detail on why their product ended up a certain way? They might as well just write a cheque to their competitors :-)

  • Plagiarise the chapter in Dr Hutch's book "Faster"

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faster-Obsession-Science-Fastest-Cyclists/dp/1408843757

It is a very good study of how and why bikes have got faster.
