  • He always says 2 weeks, but both of mine have overrun.

  • To be fair, I called him just before the 2 weeks and he said it would be ready the day after. He has painted another couple of frames for me a while back, they were both done in around 2 weeks.

  • I find twin-pack paints chip easily, whether done by Vaz or not. I use another sprayer, they supply me with a pot of touch up. Back in the day stove enamel was tougher.

  • Don't suppose you know how late he tends to be at the workshop? I'm sure taking my frame down to talk about a quote would be the easiest way but not likely to be able to get there before 6.15ish on a weekday?

    cheers

  • Hi @owl

    No not really.

@VeLLo may have a good idea of his movements. Mario does answer the phone so try him.

  • Ok cheers, I live pretty close so might just try calling by and if no luck I'll move to telephonic communications.

  • He is there Sat mornings and early afternoon

  • Really helpful, thanks mate

  • No probs - I would always give him a quick call/text first to confirm: 0*7*9*5*6*3*1*4*2*1*6

  • can anyone confirm the address for vaz please
i understand they do frame repairs, need a tube replacing

^ is that the phone number for vaz or is that yours biarittz ?

  • That is Mario's number.

He is on Elthruda Road in Hither Green (SE13). Corner plot on junction with Mallet Road. Little bell to ring on his garage door.

  • thanks

and damn, was about 1/2 mile from there this morning

  • @dicki - did you get work done by him? need a steerer tube replaced and seat clamp sorted.

  • no
it's a slow burner project , will get down there eventually but haven't done as yet

  • question...
What is the recommended hanging time after strip, blast and respray before you can/should rebuild?

  • at least 2 weeks. I've failed to regard that with either of my rebuilds without any serious consequences.

  • How much would a metallic/sparkly on color spray cost? Just steel frame and carbon forks, no decals or anything special... Can't get hold of the man.

  • dov'd do that for 50 dorrah

  • Just go down and see him.

  • I would. But it's a 1.5 hour travel each direction, I would be furious to go down there and leave empty handed. How can people not see that bad communication is bad for biz?? He most be making enough money as is.

  • sure..

    lol I getz.

  • I retract everything. Just spoke with Mario on the phone. He rang me back. Super chap. I will go there tomorrow and drop off frame and forks. Around 100 quid for steel frame inc carbon forks. Around 80 gbp for steel and steel forks (for metallic finish).

  • Let the paint "cure" for a few months if you really care about it.

My Holdsworth chipped a bit in a few places (my fault, but were simple "hits") but now it seems sturdy as you'd expect (i.e. no more chips for a long time now and I care a bit less then before when locking it up)
