It's just B&Q rattle can over primer over rubbed down original poly finish.
Lots of imperfections which are fine by me as there's no way I was rubbing back to bare wood. Just wanted rid of the red and to do it within a day. If I was that bothered I'd just buy a new USA/Repro body already finished.
Copper shielded the routs and fixed up the wiring, now there's not really any hum.
Shims are easy, get a sheet of maple veneer from eBay and cut it with scissors. I punched the holes with a normal paper hole punch. It's 0.6mm thick and there's 3 in there. Could do with another really but can't be arsed. I'll wait and see how it settles.
Action is set same as my SG but this 'feels' like it plays higher, I think the neck relief is a bit baggy so I'll look at the truss rod at some point
