Just on the right side of the rail line like yourself ie overlooking it. And a downstairs bathroom but we bought at a very good time.
Now thinking about remortgaging and buying a northern castle (albeit with a truckload of debt attached).

Mostly by motorbike but also by pedal bike. Should only add 15 mins to the pedal journey and 10 max to the motorbike one.

What are house prices like in Oz? I have been living in NZ for a few years and it's painfully cheap here... I came here with 500 quid and could put a big deposit down on a 4-bed house tomorrow. Makes me want to stay permanently, if only my partner wanted to... ach.

I know it's not for everyone but I'm glad I'm off the London rollercoaster. We shipped out to Hertfordshire and houses here are showing some increase in value (5-10% in 6 months) but in the current market, how can you put down any roots in London when you might be priced out of upgrading a few years down the line?
Where abouts? We're in the process of moving to Tring, some nice Chiltern cycling round there.

We're in Hitchin - 25/35 minutes to London with a last train at 1am. Lovely countryside and great cycling, esp. Heading out to Cambridge.
Houses are around £150K less than in London and my commute is less than an hour (though it does cost £3K p/y).

And that's us gazumped.
500k for a 2 bed in Walthamstow...doesn't even have a shower in the living room!

• #10188
I rode through Tring on my way to Bicester last year, via Watford and the Grand Canal, very nice
-
• #10189
Holy fuck, thats cray. Keep trying mate - you'll find something. Got a link to the the 500k place?
@inchpincher Tring is nice. I went to school round Kings Langley and a few school buddies live(ed) round those parts. Some great cycling round there.

I was almost in Tring the other day, riding at Aston Hill: nice downhill runs, but a hell of a hill to push up.
-
• #10191
Protip: don't ride a road bike along several miles of gravelly toe-path with backpack and tent on your back, my barse is still cursing my name
-
• #10192
Aston Hill! Haven't been there since I was 18. Broke some ribs the last time...

Buy my flat. £440k and it's yours. No gazumping or nothing.
Might take a bit of effort to move it north of the river though...
-
• #10194
Worth a look: the trails have come on leaps and bounds. The only problem is that there's only so much altitude to be had... Five minutes of fun then a sweaty 20-minute push-up.

My gf's sister is going to see a flat today or tomorrow that is a billy bargain. If she turns it down I'll give away some details.

So there we have it.
4 months after putting our place on the market we have exchanged on our sale and purchase of our new place in Crofton Park. Now I just need to pack up my flat and pregnant wife and get it moved in the next 7 days.
Oh... And i dislocated my knee at the weekend.Who has got the nod on the forum endorsed SE London removals company...?

• #10197
When it rains, etc...
Hope your knee is OK.

Agree with the pros, our last train from Euston is 1.30AM which was better than when we lived in town. We've sold a one bed and are buying a four bed detached for not much more, hopefully we can whack on an extension and benefit from a continued price rise in the Home Counties. It helps that I value a workshop over being able to wobble home from town on my bicycle.
@sparky you were right there bro, now you have to come visit when we've completed!
Likewise to forumengers, LFGSS hospitality available in Tring if you get lost or need BBQz.

I did until they let me down on the day. Could well have been a one off as only heard good things from other people.
