Had an interesting exchange of opinions this morning with a moped rider, copied below the report I submitted.
"I was cycling in the direction of Vauxhall on S Lambeth Road in the bus lane at approx. 8am on the commute to work. I performed a life saver and was overtaking another cyclist when there was long and repeated horn from about 500m back distance back and was then buzzed by a moped rider as I was pulling back to the left. At the next red lights I asked the driver of the moped (above) why objected me to being in the middle of the bike lane. He then started getting more agitated so we pulled into Miles St. He then was getting really angry, got off the moped and started to threaten me with violence, asking where I lived repeatedly etc. I then asked a passing jogger to stop and witness the abuse and took a photo of the bike reg and a short video. He kept telling me I wasn't from London and should "Fuck off", that he was going to "take me down", that I was a "pussy" and "what ya gong to do, send it into the Daily Mail?". I then left before it escalated further (at this point it would have been physical) as he had opened the seatbox to the bike and was worried he was going to bring out a lock or some kind of weapon. At the next lights (Vauxhall roundabout) he caught me up, carried on shouting abuse - one that sticks in my mind was "Fuck off and eat some canapés"
I have a motorbike & car license, owned and driven both and have cycled around London for 10 years and this was the worst incidence I have ever had.
I would not normally report something like this but his last words were "I'm going to find where you live and rape your mum"
The guy clearly has some issues with other road users, he was very aggressive and looking for a fight and the only reason there wasn't one was because I removed myself from the escalating situation. I have a significant concerns he will intimidate, threaten or abuse other road users"
