It's about to run me the fuck over. So house. Much old. Wow.

This gives me a massive boner as I've got a three bed house in HG getting the mortgage paid down on it by tenants.

I've kind of kept an eye on prices round there without getting a valuation so this is a nice little boost for a Monday.

Within weeks of getting the keys, a two bed flat (not maisonnette and no garden) has just gone on about 100yrds from our door for £20k more than we paid. Nuts.

I know it's not for everyone but I'm glad I'm off the London rollercoaster. We shipped out to Hertfordshire and houses here are showing some increase in value (5-10% in 6 months) but in the current market, how can you put down any roots in London when you might be priced out of upgrading a few years down the line?

We'd love to have kept the place but it's too much of a stretch to have both. On the positive side, the house we're looking to move to is more than enough to keep us happy for the next 10 years.

Who the fuck knows what London / Bromley will be like by then...

We'll be halfway to getting the Tube by then.

I keep fantasising about being given Mrs Glovers parents house in Harpenden. It's pleasant enough, on the train to Lon and next to the M1 for the Midlands. Unfortunately it's not going to happen as they're downsizing to free up cash. Not sure where that's going, might see if the wife will lend me a tenner...

I have a carpenter friend who would happily build it for you. He's in Cambridge though so you'd need to be able to collect in a van...

You could try @spotter but I think he needs to develop his skills a bit first.
