Back out on most of last weeks route. Out and back via Poynton as met up with a friend there. Was sunning on a bench when rapha cc mcr ride arrived and quickly departed from the Pott Shrigley direction.
Climbs were slow as we chatted all the ups & flats but let it go on the descents. Climb out of Goyt was stunning in the sunshine, friend gave the loop 10/10.
Two possible forum types sitting at the top of Blaze hill about 4pm as we crossed the pike to ride down there... anyone?

Went the long way home from work. Took in Snake & Winnats making it a 50 mile detour. The latter of the two climbs was v.tough (and arguably a silly choice) as I wanted to keep my hr as low as possible. Approach from Castleton counted 12 parachutes off Mam Tor, sun set was a good'un, think I saw it set 3 times 'cos of hills/edges.
9/10 would do again.

Today's little jaunt. Spinning down the via Gellia was a bit of a killer but a lovely day and well worth the effort. https://www.strava.com/activities/369581295/embed/be0be759023f3dfd1a10c49bc0bffdf5675cb7a4

Nice one ,75 mile on those roads fixed is good.last weekend I rode up via gellia down through rowsley and home via Matlock for the first time in about 20 years also on fixed.

After today I'm quite tempted to take an easy run at Matlock Bath, skull some espressos and throw my self up via Gellia as hard as I can. See if I can top before it all goes sideways.

What gear you using for general riding in that part of Derbyshire ?
-
• #335
42x16 on 700x23s so about 71". Bit of a tough balancing acts because there's no shortage of tough ramps to get up but going lower than that could make the downhills a slow grim experience.

TOB stage 6 11/09 goes through these wonderful parts.

Haha, thanks for this, I missed it before I left for the ride, but did come across the closed-road sign. Was about to give it a miss but luckily a local nipped out whilst we were pondering/eating a snickers and said it was fine. Impressive road collapse. Thanks so much for the suggested route, it was great - Monsal Head was stunning (lovely climb up to the pub at the top) and the views generally were awesome. I will definitely be returning to the Peaks in the future...

I love the ride up the via gellia from Cromford to my mum's - perfect gradient to get stuck into and the changing light / landscape can be magical. Thinking of going up for ToB - thought maybe Cromford Hill or Carsington reservoir.

Took a long think about it and decided to take a punt on Hartside on Thursday. Figured a lot more people will skive a Friday and the traffic out from Sheff might be hell. I reckon the ToB will be back a few more times yet.

3rd/4th should be ok, there's a CX race at Heaton Park on the 3rd, might go watch that maybe even race... could ride after or on the Sunday.

3rd is Sheffield shuffle tourney and I'm off on a plane the following weekend so I'm feeling the 4th for prep.

I'm up for it on sunday. Just rebuilt my MTB so keen to give it a run out somewhere other than Philips park. I'll be honest though it weighs a ton and I am unfit after recovering (mostly) from a broken rib, so will be slow!

I've just Rigid SS'd mine so I might need a headstart for plenty of pushing time if I can make it...

Clockwise over Jacobs on one gear sounds like a long walk.
