• Raleigh Record Sprint, Reynolds 501
    Size (c-t): 60cm
I bought this bike a few years ago as my first rebuild project/ learning project.
When I found it was in a pretty dire condition. Has been completely rebuilt having been stripped back to bare steel. Frame is in great nick. No cracks or rust, one dent in top tube but this isn't causing a problem.
Black & Gold. Gets some looks
Repainted with replica decals (correct for this edition of the Record Sprint).
Original Weinmann 500 gold anodised brakes and levers. New brake blocks, cables and housing.
Original headset, seat post, stem, gold handlebars (new cinelli cork bar tape) and Raleigh seat.
The frame was cold set to take the Rolf Vector Pro rear wheel with 10-speed Shimano Ultegra 6600 mini-groupset (front/rear mechs, cassette). Has KMC Gold 10-speed chain. Uses friction shifters - I like this setup - shifting is super swift and smooth but may take some getting used too!
Original Sugino chainset (chain rings may need replacing in time)
Bottom bracket threading was stripped when I found it so now has threadless BB. Works perfectly and rides like a dream (very impressed by this, uses a vacuum system!?)
Barely used gold and black Vittoria Rubino 700c front and back tyres

I guess could be broken down for parts, but it rides lovely so I'm keen to keep it together for someone else to enjoy it.

    Asking £200
Can pick up from Peckham, Shoreditch or City

  • bumpity. I'll listen to offers too

  • Great bike ! I would buy it soon if in London. Up for you !!

I have a Raleigh record sprint too, not so nice as yours. I confirm that the frame, for being an entry level 501, is really good and stiff.

  • Yeah, love how this frame handles. Just time for a new project I fear!

  • any chance of posting it to scotland?

  • Yeah not a problem, depending on the size of box I can fit it in would cost £25 or £40 to send

  • If this is still available in a week or 2, I might be very tempted to buy this one (if you're willing to post to Belgium, that is...)

  • Happy to hold it. I'd send via a bike specialist courier so if still interested let me know and I can get a quote from them. Should be able to pack it down well to save on costs

  • How tall are you? I'm 6'1", but don't really like how low the seatpost is...

  • I'm 5'11" with 32" inside leg. Frames a 60cm so slightly big for me at under 6ft hence low seat position at the moment.

  • Ok, thanks!
