  • Thanks! See above :)

  • tell me it's not straight

    Ha!
Seriously though I do think it's well balanced!

  • I tried skewing it, but couldn't decide whether the verticals should be vertical, or if the horizontals should be horizontal. That's the straight out of camera shot, so I think I just lucked it to some extent!

  • Anyone selling a Fuji 35mm 1.4?

  • Just came back from 2 of my best friends wedding, they said they are happy enough me not charging them for the photography but I want to print them a little photo book as a gift. Any suggestion which website / company / shop?

  • I've used this site a couple of times to make photo books for gifts. The quality is really good.

    http://www.blurb.com/

  • Have used Blurb too, only for a fairly cheap thing but was good quality as well. Nice bonus is that they have INDD templates you can download so you're not stuck doing it on a web interface

  • Cheers guys, I have seen books print do from them before I think... anyway, what's the paper quality like? I had a look at their website and they only have 100gsm paper, which seems a little thin for a wedding gift...

  • I knew there is a reason I said I will never do another wedding again. Just heard from the bride that her mum is upset coz there was no video of the wedding and the groom aka my best friend told them I forgot to do it. I have told him many times I can't do both and he has to sort it out, I only offered to lend him my equipment which he convinently left in London. I am not having a great taste in my mouth at the moment.

Doing it for friends or clients, I don't think any photographer in there right mind would ever agree to do both. Correct me if the world has changed since I last checked.

  • Lol. My mate did a friends wedding under the provision that he was doing it as a friend, for free and is not a professional.

Then afterwards, various family members moaned about not being in pictures with such and such blah blah blah.

Also, apparently people were trying to direct him and telling him what to do like he was just some schmuck pressing a button and didn't have any artistic control whatsoever.

    Tl;dr: avoid.

  • My experience was better, coz the groom himself is also a photographer so we made a list to ensure everyone would be included and I got 1 member of each family to direct people so we are good with that. Not as many candid shots as I would like coz all thebkey people we're rushing around and guests we're just sat in a horrible hotel lobby waiting aimlessly. Not exactly pretty photo, is it?

And the whole precoedding was so delayed coz the groom was late and by the time everyone had calmed down, it was almost dark and some of the key pics are shit.

I tried to be as bossy as possible, but if the couple ain't moving, who was I to tell them what to do in their big day? I am just really upset the groom sold me out by telling the parents I was also in charge of the video.

  • Offer to make up for the lack of candid shots by accompanying the happy couple on their honeymoon.

  • Yeah, then you can send the in-laws the video.

  • I asked before the wedding and they haven't said no yet, now more reasons for them to say yes!!!

  • lol

    ..also nice picture Will!

  • fed up with keep having to 'steal' the Spyder from work, just treated myself to this

Seems decent improvement from the previous versions.

  • Always wanted to try one of those. My laptop screen is a bit cool compared with most IPS displays...

  • Do you use a Mac? I have found the older anti glare screens a bit cold but the new retina screens a bit warm, that is from having had 5 different ones (I am a Mac breaker!)... all behave very similarly.

I am not usually too bothered with calibration as I always think however perfect the colours are on my screen, the clients / friends will only ever view the pics on a shit screen.

I shall report back in a few days once I have had a played with this bad boy, should make a biger difference than pervious models...

  • Yeah, macbook pro antiglare. It's also non-ips... My iMac screen at work is bang-on though.
