Yeah we completely changed the original plan of leasehold/flats .. wasn't making sense when added service charges to monthly mortgage. Both of us don't intend to use the train either but I know what you mean about the walk. Your place is 12-ish mins I think; this is more like 5 .. same side of Downham way. The place already has a solid built (flat roof) man cave/shed so the opportunities are endless.

I know what you mean. I pay £86 a month on top of mortgage/bills for what essentially amounts to hoovering the corridors. Having said that, we had an issue with the roof and that got sorted without me paying a penny. And the freeholder is going to help me fit ground anchors for my Vespa next month. Swings and roundabouts. So glad you got sorted...

massive saga; will rant once completed

• #10056
reason im not saying is im not sure how to show it without showing how much i paid for the damn thing.
-
• #10057
im just south of downham fields
-
• #10058
the online listing wont necessarily show what you paid, just what the owner originally asked for (unless you paid that amount)
-
• #10059
Then you're just near me. And there's only one type of house in that whole area, so...

Finally getting my bathroom ripped out and replaced, no bathroom till next week, feels inhuman
-
• #10061
But then within a couple of months of completion we will be able to see the exact price @ChainBreaker paid as this is public info from the land registry.
-
• #10062
but by then no one will care cause all the prices will quadruple as the number of older fixeh skidders push up the price.
-
• #10063
what if i paid double the asking jsut to make sure
-
• #10064
So why be so precious now, we all overpaid at the point of offer only to have a bargain by the time it exchanged.
-
• #10065
then we wouldn't know, unless the estate agents was one of those bastards who state "offer has been accepted at £xxx, xxx so contact if you have a higher offer"

• #10066
i also dont want the world trying to steal my house.
ITS MY HOUSE GODDAMMIT!!!
-
• #10067
We don't care what you paid, people just want to know so they can post poo through the letter box for when you move in.
-
• #10068
technically its the banks house.
-
• #10069
house warming gifts are always welcome.
-
• #10070
i dont see links to your house
-
• #10071
anyway, dont want to jinx it :-)
-
• #10072
I'm going to guess £240,000 as all those houses for miles around are homogeneous and seem to go for the same price.
-
• #10073
Should be exchanging on Monday now...
-
• #10074
then I massively overpaid

That's quite grim. We currently have our family of 5 sharing one bedroom and one crap shower. Rest of the house is a building site.
Is it possible to remortage my flat, use that money as a deposit to buy a place overseas and then move there and rent out the flat here?
