I can't handle having the hands not meet the dial markers. Sound and look good otherwise.

Does look cool and the Explorer II in general has grown on me hugely. I especially like the orange hand on the new ones. It's probably a bit big for me though.
Do you know if there much difference between the various previous versions Rolex Explorer II?
I've had/having no luck finding a 1016 in the year(s) I want. And although a couple of very late (1989/90) modles in vgc have poppes up they're a lot more expensive than I expected, to the point that I'm not sure its worth it, or at least it's hard for me to justify.
The Explorer II on the other hand seems to be pretty good value.

That is good.
I'd say make it happen.

This probably falls more into fashion advice, but I was thinking about wearing a nice old gold pocket watch for a special occasion.
1) can you wear a pocket watch with a 2 piece?
2) I don't have a chain. I'd like a modern twist, so I was thinking about maybe finding a gold T-bar and using something else... maybe a high quality coloured silk rope? Does anyone else have any creative suggestions? Leather cord maybe? -

don't, just don't, it's much easier. it's too much of an affectation to ever be tasteful.

So is that just an all round NO to ever wearing a pocket watch?
I quite liked the idea of having it in an inside pocket.

Do you like steampunk?

No.
Well as a style it's alright for the cashier bit of a hairdressers.

My Steinhart Vintage GMT has lost five minutes since I set it at 15:00 today, my Vintage Military (which I set at the same time) is absolutely spot on to the second.
The Vintage GMT is therefore going to go back to Steinhart - they can also look at the very, very slight misalignment between the 24 hour hand and the hour hand.
Anyone had any experience of Steinharts customer service?

I'm in the market for a spare watch as mine has had to go off for a service (6 weeks I'm told). Preference for something plan, simple and waterproof that does not need daily winding. Budget up to £150.

How about a Seiko SKA371, Its a decent diver and the Kinetic movement lasts a few months without daily wear,
I've dived with mine and it's pretty good, the Lume is excellent and the Bezel has a good click.
You will need to look past the fact that the hour hand looks like a condom though

A little too fancy for me; and it does look a little like a condom.

had a Look at the Orient Mako?
Orient are owned by seiko but make their own movements, My auto is another nice diver and it's the go to watch for the beach and pool for me - change from £100 too!

If you fancied a different style and really wanted bang for buck (though talking about discounted Seikos is a little like buying a sofa from the DFS sale...you're never actually making the apparent saving since the RRPs tend to be fantasy), then they have these two Monsters and at the moment (I think) they have the discount code MONSTER running for an extra 10% off.

rrp. £463 -> £167http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-prospex-299/seiko-prospex-air-diver-200m-monster-srp581k1-srp581k-mens-watch-5402.html
rrp. £398 -> £158Bona fide divers in their own right. I'd much rather one of those than a Rolex/Panerai 'homage'.

And also in the Monster's favour, you can liven up your work day by trying to catch 'rocket-time'.

If that's how you liven up your work day you clearly need a new job.
Really contemplating an Explorer II 61570 polar...
