looking for a cheap bike, beater, 54/55cm

have abruptly ended up back in london and need to get myself mobile again. just after a cheap bike that i wont worry about locking up wherever.

the ideal would be, 54/55 cm, steel frame, singlespeed, that is mechanically sound and doesnt need anything replacing immediately, but, whatever really. Around 100 quids would be great, but im prob asking for a lot there.

I have a Mongoose Maurice that is sitting in my room doing nothing. It's my beater so it's not in the most amazing shape but it'll get you around.

I've put on some BLB risers and it has a F5 Lattice chainring (http://wearefactoryfive.com/product/product-f5-lattice-chainring/).
No breaks or tires though. Bit of a Frankenbike but it's done me well...

cheers @Sebastien but more than i want to spend. reason being as i already have a couple of bikes but theyre in holland and im not going to be able to get them back here for a while....but will do eventually.

@greeno Yup..it'll need all of that. The back wheel is pretty much brand new. You'll probably also want a single speed cog on the back as it's currently got a 17T (I think) fixed cog.

As I said, it'll need a bit of work, but with the £100 you wanted to spend, you could make it a decent little beater.
