Tortec velocity is what I have on my bike, I like the design and simplicity but it lacks rear support / "dogs legs" and my Ortliebs tend to twist to the back. Loading panniers to the front helps, but the other day as I came of a pavement it went into the wheel. Wheel is fine but Ortlieb is badly damaged.
I want to keep the Velocity, nothing else pleases me for that bike when it comes to rear racks. So I'd like to modify it as below... Anyone seen such tweak before? I have some bits of aluminium tube of the right diameter but I'm looking for little elegant connectors, since I cannot weld... Any ideas welcome!
Unsure how thick the metal strip would need to be for it not to bend.
Thanks, I was hoping to keep using round sections so it would not look too DIY. Would have painted them black and all... But you are right, coming down like you show may be mechanically easier to make it work
