But I bought it! Plus the government clarified the law to make this legal, last year I think.
The law is an ass.

The law is an ass.
Copyright law is is not just an ass, it's a fucking travesty of corporate interests over the interest of individuals, consumers and creators alike.

I see what you did there...

A bit like all these people coming out of the woodwork and talking about Jimmy Savile after all these years, eh?
-
• #36006
Not even remotely similar. The Saville-esque incidents were actively covered up and at times facilitated.

Does this mean my old mix-tapes are illegal too?
-
• #36008
Marks point is that just because no one said anything at the time does not mean nothing happened. To use it as proof that nothing happened is a logical fallacy.

Agree about being overly reliant on a charismatic individual. And batmanghelidjh pissed off huge numbers of good people by taking every opportunity to enter into a pissing match about who worked with the most vulnerable children and young people. If she had the humility to take advice from the many better qualified people who offered it, she might have avoided this. Last night on news night she claimed that KC had never had a safeguarding issue. Never? Really? Bullshit, she either doesn't understand safeguarding or she's lying.
It's a huge shame that the charity closed, of course, but I don't know anyone who's particularly surprised.

Maybe they were at KC too. You take an issue to more senior people and they tell you they're going to do something about, it and then they don't. Sounds familiar.

Where am I saying nothing happened?! If someone says they have been assaulted, then it needs to be investigated. Comparing it to Saville makes it sound like you are saying there was a culture of child sexual exploitation.
-
• #36012
It sounds like that to you. My point is just what dst said - that taking a long time to report something doesn't mean it isn't true. There are plenty of examples of an event or story triggering reports of things that happened in the past.

think of the poor musics!

I was just translating Mark's (sledgehammer) example as you seemed to misunderstand him.
It wasn't a comparison with the Saville case, the Saville case is an example where some people only came forward at a much later time when the wider picture came to public attention.

Was just wondering if it got any worse than this guy?
Fathead body builder, shit jeans, wank Bentley, West London, hit and run, left car with lights on, doors open, and hip hop playing, uninsured

romanian eh? well, there you go. glad the standard went to great lengths to point that out, otherwise i might have thought he was some sort of swarthy arab or something. you know what they're like.

It's the '69 likes' aspect that really makes this story wtf-worthy:

Five hundred pound German bomb on Old Bethnal Green Road
found it inside a house. wtf? They must have known something had come crashing through the roof so they put the floor boards back and hoped for the best?

Estate Agent said it was a feature but didn't go into much detail.

Lady Celeste Luminary, a local performer, told the Standard she was escorted several blocks away by officers.
She said: "At around 12:30pm I was reclining on the couch and I noticed police taping off the street outside. Next thing - bashing on the door."

Like the Young Ones episode?
(Response to first post)
-
• #36024
Exactly. It's a freaking four story house, the bomb would have crashed through and ended up in the basement, it would be obvious, and every vendor since then has said to potential buyers "Yes, it's very quiet round here".

Yeah, but if you copy from a CD you are STEALING, and KILLING ARTISTS' BABIES!
[Edit]
Although, proposals under discussion for the criminalisation of copyright infringment mean that you would probably get a greater sentence if you were convicted of infringment that if yo uhad gone round to the artists house, knocked them unconscious, and stolen money from them.
