I worked on a few boats (carpentry, not sailing) when I lived in Malta, one of the owners had as his life goal a circumnavigation - saved his whole life, finally got to live his dream when he retired.
Said he'd just got the spinnaker set, running before the wind, when he had a heart attack.
He now has to sail with a crew, said he still regrets not having done it earlier in his life when he was healthier.
