  • xcom (+expansion) worth it for nearly 25 notes?

  • Tough one. Xcom was on sale for £8 before, the expansion isn't that big but is still usually a good £20. I would be tempted to see if you could get the stock one for cheap first.

  • I've had that much and more time out of it, but h speaks wisdoms.

  • Or get Xenonauts instead.

  • i forgot to add that i am FANTASTICALLY rich.

/thanks for the pro-tips. will look for vanilla version

  • The expansion is worth having if you can get it cheap.

Bear in mind it's not extra stuff on the end, it adds to the main campaign, so you really want to play it from the beginning when you get it.

  • Just finished Far Cry 4. It was okay, but not particularly stellar. Enjoyed Watch Dogs more. Now what should I play while I still have a modern computer? Was thinking Battlefields Hardline.

  • I did enjoyed FC4 a little more than Cultural Appropriation FC3.

As much as I like roaming about on the island, playing as a rich white American kid is a little cringing.

  • It does that thing which a lot of games seem to do now - it doesn't really have a story, just a few choices you can make during the game and an ending. Pretty unsatisfying.

  • Thief was great, could see where dishonoured got all it's stuff from. New xbox game with gold is metro last light, so I'll do 2033 then that next. I've not paid for a game in ages.

  • Everybody's Gone To The Rapture seemed quite interesting, hope it is, setting feel incredibly familiar, even if it's set in the 80's.

  • Either of you folks checked out FC3: Blood Dragon? One of the most enjoyable FPSs I've played in a very long time!

  • Waiting for it to pop up on sale (in my wishlist).

  • finished XCOM. great game but resource management aspect of it seemed tacked on and frustrating at times.

  • I can get a £1000 digital loan from work... How good a gaming laptop can I get for this or preferably less?
I'd particularly like something small and powerful for being mobile, but then get a docking station and maybe a projector for watching stuff/playing games...

Am I being a bit hopeful?

The idea of external processor/graphics mentioned earlier in the thread, is that something I could get from somewhere on one bill so my work can't tell I'm totally spending the money on gaming? (Although extra processing will help with excel right?! :)

  • Be on guard chaps. I just had a hack attempt on my Steam account from some Ukrainian fuckers. Thankfully email verification stopped it before they got in but my password is compromised so I had to change that.
If you don't already have it get email authentication, or even better download the Steam Mobile app and authenticate through that.

  • Will need to spend more than that to keep up with new games in the next couple years.

Less than a grand; gaming PC.

BTW I notice my games is a lots quicker to load and smoother when I put SSD in it.

  • Steam is always a prime target for hackers if you have an old account. Never have your password saved for the log in.

  • MGSV: The Phantom Pain is every bit as good a port as Ground Zeros, running smoothly even on my Surface Pro 2.

  • Downloaded Mad Max.

First it run smoothly, now it's choppy even lowering it down to the tiniest resolution possible, bah.

  • Ordered MGSV, will get Mad Max once I've finished it.
