• I know, stupid isn't it? I started this thread to build a bike I actually like riding with (which I have achieved) but I guess the worrying factor is riding and either crashing and replacing the parts all over again (which I don't think I would bother again tbh)

    I think because it is brand new, I want to keep it in that state, (threating more like a priceless jewellery than a bike atm) but I am slowly using it a lot more as you stated: 'what's the point of building a lovely bike and only using it a handful of time of the year?'

    And knowing me, once I get caught in a rain storm I will use it a lot more on the weekend and maybe weekdays (HOP) because I will start using it like proper bike.

  • Funny story: my dad bought a new bike a couple years ago. First thing he did was take it out in to the parking lot, and bowl it down the road. Obviously it eventually crashed, albeit not too badly. Ripped the bartape a bit, scuffed the saddle and put a couple nicks in the paint. He said he'd never ride it if it was still new.

    You'll relax your standards after you put a couple chips in it :)
