It's first generation, C-Record era: 2nd gen. ('92-'94) had guitar-tuner style cable adjusters and the stop screws below the body.
The enclosed upper jockey wheel cage and painted finish put it at, or near the bottom of the range: Xenon I'd think.
All the above is from memory, if I don't get a better offer this evening, I'll have a look through my catalogues and confirm.

...if I don't get a better offer this evening...
Who am I kidding: '90/'91 Xenon, bottom of the barrel; strictly speaking it's 7v but there's no difference between that and 8v.
Could be earlier, but my Eighties catalogues are incomplete scans and my eyes aren't what they were.

Hi - anyone know what this stem badge is? It's on an old Viking bike.

Looks like a generic Great Britain badge, if you look closely at the rivets it's likely a replacement for a previous badge that's been lost.

That makes sense now - thistle, rose, shamrock, leek? Cheers!

Sorry it's a Raleigh:-(
I bought this in it's dubious rattle-can livery, thinking it was an "ex-banana" but none of them appear to have a yellow BB which this one does - you can just see a bit of it.
Notable features are, Campy style (adjustable rear) ends, sloping fork crown, lugs with egg shaped cut-outs in them. Thanks for any pointers.

I think I've solved it !? 4hrs of Google revealed that it's (probably) a Raleigh Rapide. 531 tubes, so that'll do for me. But if I'm wrong, please tell me.
Okay, boring Raleigh interlude over, now you can get on with more interesting stuff ;-)

It is the revised Dawes stem Badge, would have been painted like this

Your Raleigh looks like a first gen Gran Sport, and I think it's likely 531 frame forks and stays. The fork crown gives it away, full sloping. A nice quality frame which was originally specced full Campagnolo group. This is a later version with chrome forks:

Full decal set for it here, metal head badges usually cheap on eBay too:

ColnagoDraft,
thanks for the input, I genuinely thought I'd bored everyone to sleep with that one ;-)I'd love it to be a GS, but following that link, and a few others on Ggl, the lugs are nicer than mine - envy. No signs of any chrome on mine, but it did come with some GS and NR Campy parts, so I think a previous owner upgraded.
I believe it's one of these, it's just so similar:

Cheers, Gren

Now that is odd!! The GS first gen were not chromed and they had Gran Sport chainset/brakes and Nuovo Record gears.
The 2nd gen was a bit posher and the final version had shot in seatstays. -

Fake listing or fake bike you mean?
-
• #4592
Looks like a pretty genuine GT to me, not original forks though.
-
• #4593
It has perhaps been repainted but all the GT hallmarks are there.
-
• #4594
It's not a repaint, this is an original Team Lotto bike.
As for the ad, the seller has had this up on Marktplaats a number of times already. This together with the very very bad listing (brand? components?) makes it suspicious.
I'd avoid it. Or collect in person.

Any closer to identification yet?

I spent a good few days looking through google images, then went on holiday to cornwall..
so, no.. not exactly.
I don't think Im ever gonna find out to be honest.

Hi could anyone help with identifying this frame?
Found it in a shed but the guy I got it off had no idea what the frame was. He'd attached a piece of paper that said the frame is 20 3/4" and it has a distinctively short head tube, the head tube is also drilled with 2 holes for a headbadge.
It's obviously been resprayed at some point but the original yellow paint can be seen on the steer tube of the forks.
The frame also has distinctive brake lugs and seat stays.I'll try and upload some pictures although I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure how to upload pictures well.
Any help is much appreciated
Thanks,
Ben
