    pushed 4bpm over FTHR for 90 mins on a climbing race, and felt like a zombie for days.

    Look bomb proof and easy to install/switch, clearance is maybe a problem but doesn't look so bad.

  • DC Rainmaker gave them a glowing review. A friend has bought some, not sure they've been delivered yet though.

  • Exactly, saw some US, french and UK reviews....all are pointing in the same direction. Look very solid in case of crash (no pods) and ultra simple to install (no torque wrench).
    So i'm tempted to use that for training / road and just buy a p2m for the track.

  • Due to the lack of a torque wrench they look ideal for use with a hire bike, just put shoes/pedals/Garmin/etc in your bag.

  • After much deliberation and research, I just took delivery of a power2max type s (SRAM force). Looking forward to fitting it to my TT bike and taking it for a thrash this weekend. Will report back here with initial impressions soon

  • Something to consider, the sram chainring is rotated 30 deg away from its intended orientation as the sram spider is angled such that one of the chainring bolts is hidden, whereas the p2m spider is not.

    I guess the pin that's supposed to catch the chain will no longer serve its function. Not sure about shifting.

  • yeah, the pin is visible, shifting is fine though

  • Thanks. I did notice the protruding pin and wonder why. I've never had a chain drop off that side of the chainring (yet) though.

    Will have to wait and see with the shifting, it has been used already so hoping it functions OK.

  • I think you can actually change the location of the pin, see that rubber dud on the opposite side of where the pin is, can be swapped with the other one for normal spiders

    If I want to be fully fresh for a week of very hard riding (many consecutive days of climbing in the Alps) at the end of August, whereabouts should I plan to have my TSB so that I'm fresh but not losing fitness? I'm faffing about planning workouts on TP for my taper and am trying to get the values on my PMC graph looking good for the start of the week away.

    It seems that the boffs recommend a slightly positive TSB, and I appreciate that it's different for everyone, but interested to hear what may have worked for others.

    One thing is that the article below seems to be suggesting a slightly positive TSB for one off events, whereas I'll be riding for 5-6 days back to back.

  • Go in around +20, you'll be a little fresh, but should be strong at the end.

    Do short rides with hard efforts in the week before and days off or very easy 30min rides.
    No medium rides. Just hard 15-60min efforts or super easy spins.

    I was thinking of a TSB more like +50, will 20ish be enough? I reckon each day will be a TSS of around 400.

    I was gonna start to taper 7 - 8 days before, with a couple (or maybe even just one) short sharp turbo sessions over 3 or 4 days then around 3 days off the bike in total right beforehand. Last longer ride would be about 8 days out from the start.... sound about right?

  • You won't be able to do 400 TSS for more than 2 days, your power will drop off. So don't start too hard.

    +50 and you'll be untrained. +20 and you'll be a bit too fresh but after a few days will feel good and at the end won't be too tired.

    It's not exact science so numbers vary person too person. So aim for around there and you'll be fine. Just so the hard intervals and easy rides and nothing in between, that'll freshen you up but keep engine going. Don't take 3 days off in a row. Just a hard effort day then easy easy day then hard. Or hard off then easy then hard again. Freshen not untrain! Don't lost all the hard work done.

  • Ive been totally unprepared my last few intense bike trips. I survive through pacing and eating.
    See Feb. Came home with a TSB of -114. Could barely tie my own laces. Great week though.

  • Impressively brutal. What was your atl when at its highest? Had you done no taper at all?

  • Is that from power meter data @Smallfurry Reaching -100 is no mean feat. I understand tie your own laces! Must have been F-d.
