I wish I could afford bowls like that.. I don't have a bbq, so I roasted the chicken in a pan, probably there was too much marinade or the pan wasn't hot enough as it didn't come roasted. Other than that I don't really spot differences between the two pictures.

one is an appetising bowl of CTM, with readily identifiable components in it; the other is a tesco value microwave offering (offence meant by way of extreme contrast :p )
If you followed jamie's 'peter's lamb curry' then that's a fundamental mistake, curry sauces are not a 'one size fits all'. The Jamie one is better suited to lamb, and is more your rogan josh style of sauce.
Try Madhur's recipe, for a start there's no clove (i can believe that the 1 clove in Jamie's recipe was too much - for a CTM, but not too much for the lamb)

I will try the one you recommend next time, and will leave the chicken in bigger pieces, serve it in a bowl, and get the curry right.
