  • Not sure if you're just referring to their overall riding ability whilst on the canal path, but it is a shared use path so they're not in the wrong by using it.

  • Shared areas like canal path and rye lane are pedestrian priority, if you're going to ride on a footpath (yes you're allowed to) then behave accordingly.
I agree it's nice that it feels shared, I'm not keen on super stripey paths everywhere - this bit's for ME, that bit's for YOU.
There are always Proper Roads you can take.

  • Rye Lane is a stinking gauntlet of oblivious pedestrians and offal-slick drain covers. Hate.

  • Agree that there's no excuse for riding like a dick on a shared path. The canal path is a really useful cut-through though.

  • Brixton was disgusting this morning. The hot weather had certainly been enjoyed. #findabinandputitinortakeithome #after10pints?notlikely

Have been wondering what you lot were on about at Oval and then got stung by it this morning. Will try harder tomorrow.

  • the regular railton road wednesday morning meat wagon fetor far outawfuls any other beelixton related horribleitude.

  • Brixton was is disgusting

South of the river generally is.

  • I thought Brixton was ok this morning, I went along Effra Road, then onto the A23 around Church Island, and along to Oval, where I used the CS-whatever-number-it-is thing as a van was blocking the road, so it was (this morning) a useful through-way.

  • Yeah, I ring my bell as much as possible, they probably think I'm an idiot looking for attention (look at me! I'm cycling!)

Gotta agree the pavement colour doesn't help at all - it's just some slightly fancier pavement slabs, I'd have no idea bikes are using it if I didn't cycle on it.

  • Seriously considering getting a bell. I can see it now, "rides bike with tri bars, rings bell frantically"

  • I just realised I took my bell off before Christmas when rebuilding my bike and never put it back on.

    CSB (can't sound bell)

  • Spotted somebody doing great trackstanding in the green cycle box only then to use the pedestrian green (so red for them) to continue on the road.

Big enough to trackstand? Big enough to play with the cars surely... ;)

  • I was noshing on a bagel in the park off brick lane around 1:30/2 and a guy rolls past me going backwards. Whips around at the cobbles, a few tricks in the alley by pillow cinema then rolls off across the pavé. Are you on here, mr tricks?

  • at peak school rush hour times i tend to go Bellenden rd (gets me every time) to avoid the prams & sheep brains. Would recommend although only problem is getting onto the canal path becomes a bit of a faff

The junction leading onto that cycle path on rye lane also has the worst phasing i have experienced in London

  • I like that Indian bell set up, sounds like an old fire engine :)

  • Took one of the Rye Lane alternatives today, only a single pedestrian...

...who made eye contact and proceeded to cross anyway. Give up.

  • Did the new commute in from new house.

Nice! 21 mins in and 28 mins back. Better than I thought it would be as most of it is on a 40mph main car route.

Only spoiled by a silly Audi woman massively jumping the red light as I was halfway over the junction.

    8/10.

  • This morning was fuuuuucked. Never seen the traffic so bad heading northbound around Oval. Headwind all the way too, predictably.

    2/10

  • Ride in this morning was wonderful. Reasonable pace, sunshine, only limited wind.
No real car or ped silliness. No other-cyclist silliness.

Severely let down by the horrendous noise coming from my cog whenever I put any power down. Replaced my entire drive train last week and technically, everything should be running perfectly, but can't get rid of this damn noise.

    5/10 - More investigation needed

  • according to the email from TfL:

A new safety feature called ‘hold the left turn’ has been introduced at the junction of Kennington Park Road and Kennington Road in Oval.

Cyclists now have their own traffic signals which separate cyclists travelling straight ahead and motorists turning left, ensuring they never get a green light at the same time.

  • I've used that the past two days, it's actually better than I thought it was going to be.

  • Not been taken out by bus pulling across to the bus stop yet then?

  • Thought I'd missed the memo this morning and the tube strike had been brought forward.

Very busy. Much traffic filtering practice.

    8/10
