  • Anyone used the arm sleeves / arm screens / arm coolers?

    http://www.rapha.cc/gb/en/shop/arm-screens/product/ASC01

I'm thinking of using them for PBP to keep cool and stop sunburn without having to use sunscreen.

  • I use the arm screens, very comfortable on a 100 mile not quick ride (so wore them for over 6 hours) and on a couple of hot 60 mile rides. I have the black ones, didn't get hot.

  • Anyone been to Kilver court outlet recently and know if they've got anything in Large - planing a ride around the mendips and wondering whether I should finish up near there...

  • Used the Data versions in the Alps a few weeks back, it was hot, they worked.

I would recommend a sunscreen gel called Ultrasun, great product that will last all day with one application, and doesn't leave you feeling greasy like most suncreams do.

  • Thanks both

  • I was there last week, they had a good selection of men's stock, mostly in the edges of the size range so more XS and XL. They had scarce M and L in some things.

They had base layers, Pro team jackets, hardshells, rain and wind jackets, some jerseys, less in the way of bibs and only Sky shorts.

  • Yes, I've got the white ones. I really like them.

  • Is there anything special about the material or would any thin arm 'warmers' do the same thing?

  • The arm screens are made of very finely woven material, which I don't think I've seen anywhere else. No idea if it does anything special, but they do a good job of keeping me a bit warmer than I otherwise would be first thing, and keeping the sun off during the first part of a big Alpine climb. I usually take them off before the end for maximum sprightliness up to the summit though.

  • What sort of discount is typical at Kilver Court?

  • It's the same fabric as the shortsleeve Pro Team Jersey, and the armwarmers/screens I wear the majority of the time. Good for cool mornings/evenings (pack small to go into a pocket), and work great in the heat for sun protection. I recently got burned on the 1st day of a week in the Pyrenees. Rode perfectly comfortably in 25-30ΒΊ+ sunshine wearing them to cover up. Be good to know what you make of them

  • Sounds interesting. I already have a thin set of arm warmers but I don't know what material they are. Maybe I should just buy a set of the Rapha and see how they go.

  • From what I saw anywhere from 25-60% off. PTJ Β£100 down from Β£180. Super lightweight jersey 45 down from 90. Classic jerseys half price.

  • sale is on you vultures

  • had an itch to spend money all day, perfect. PTJ ordered.

  • Thanks, sounds like worth a visit (even with the sale on).

  • PTJ ordered. Won't be missed in the natty bright red!

  • Remind me why we are discussing winter kit by the way? It's July ffs.

It's August, cheap winter kit to be had before the ice age.

  • Anyone have the lightweight jersey? How much shit can you fit in the pockets? Room for a racecape? I'm used to three across the back.

  • Lightweight jersey are awesome, they're my top choice for summer audax ride.

You can get away with a racecape in the back, but best not overload it, saddlebag are there for a reason.

  • OK thanks... Might be a little on the small side then, was intending to fill it with food and ride up mountains, plus race cape to ride down...

  • Must resist...must resist...darn this sale!

  • Carry a cheap gillet instead, much more useful on the descend, and pack a lots smaller, hell you probably can sandwich that between your saddlebag and saddle easily.

Don't think you'd want to climb with a sweaty back with load of stuff.

  • Not much tempting in the sale:-(

  • @Bezzin I had a gillet, arm-warmers, phone, pump+tools, 2 Cliff bars and 5 shot-bloks in my lightweight jersey pockets without too much of the dreaded Rapha "jersey torque".
