Another one. Think I tuck in behind quite nicely. Some sort of aerobar extension setup needs fabricating for next season...

I've got some 31.8mm tube and a set of Profile T2 extensions, was thinking of starting some experiments soon.

I came to look at pretty tandems. Think I'm getting more than I bargained for!

Thinking of joining the club... this is a 22"/25" Bob Jackson in 531 that should fit me and the missus pretty well.
what does the forum think is a fair price complete for this assuming it's in decent condition?

Lovely Bob Jackson frame. BJ seems to get quite a premium on ebay (assuming that's where you've seen this one. I did a lot of lurking there and eventually picked up a Dawes tandem...) I'd be surprised to see it go for less than £800-900. Worth it if you value the makers mark, and the frame looks in good condition.

Perhaps that's a bit too much? One Bob Jackson recently added to the tandem club forum for £600.

Just placed an ad for my Super Galaxy, hope it's ok if I flag it up here.

picking up the Bob Jackson on Sunday!

Picked this up last Sunday for Mrs Savage and me for pre-holiday beach body prep. Ebay pic with strange chopped and welded seat post.

You got a great price on that, post pics once you done it up a bit!

I'm very pleased with it. fitted new cables and outers throughout and changed the rear wheel and the handlebar stem. All the bearings have been rejuvenated so all I am waiting for are a new seat post and brake blocks. She (the wife) won't know what's hit her. Pics soon.
Seat post arrived this afternoon...

Anyone one here (@6pt?) tried putting a 7 or 8 speed freewheel on the suzue hubs of a super galaxy?
-
• #290
not me, those wheels are rotting in the shed.
-
• #291
Fair play. This may happen, depends how much I find myself using the drum brake when touring.

Tandems.co.uk sell modern hubs with drum threading if you wish to embrace hyperglide/many gears. I almost bought one when building wheels last year but they had a 2 week lead on them and I was in a hurry so got a 6 bolt instead, which I can actually use if I ever get a disc tandem.

Thanks, I'd looked at them before but couldn't (and actually still can't...?) find any hubs on there with drum threading. Did you have to call them up and ask especially?
While on the subject, what did you find the OLN distance to be? A crude measurement puts it at 140mm but it would be good to confirm that. -
• #294
140mm is right I have a galaxy tandem with a suzue hub and screw on freewheel.
-
• #295
Cheers, now I can add that to my list of bits to get!
-
• #296
Mine is, unhelpfully, 135. 140 is more standard for tandems though. And haven't looked at tandems.co.uk but the hubs were labelled as orbit if that helps.
-
• #297
That's quite an amazing frame layout, how stiff is it?
-
• #298
140 is more standard for tandems though
Was chatting to a fellow tandemist last week, the idea of a 'standard' width for rear hubs is a pipe dream. Mind you, that seems to apply to solos too now, until a winner emerges from the through-axle chaos. 145mm seems to be the favourite for tandems at the moment, based on what's in the shops.

:D
Yeah me too
