• Summary so far:

When I picked her up at the shop I was surprised how light she was, even with the wide and deep rims profile and took for her a quick gentle spin and was even more surprised with wider profile rim that the ride is so much more stable and of course comfortable and with the weight reduction from the previous bike so much more quicker and responsive too.

As I stated from the start of this thread, one of the reasons why I rebuilt this bike up was purely for the Coast to Coast in a Day sportive from Seascale to Whitby. It was an epic ride, was disappointed with my time, but that's another rant for another day.

The bike felt quick and was lovely to climb and the CCC (Cheap Chinese Crabon) wheelset held up really nicely. However, descending was a different matter, it was rather scary to descend from Hardknott and I soon realised that when carbon rims you either have some braking or just full on lock compared to the control modulation you can have with alloys rims. (Even with the black prince I was using) But I was so glad that I went for the normal inner tubes compared to latex due to the amount of heat I was generating and if I was using latex it would have probably burst! =/

Overall I'm really happy with this 'Sunday Best Bike' really has put a smile back on my face. If I was to change anything it would probably be the rims to Enve (probably a deeper profile 6:7) with their apparently improved braking surface. Or I go back to alloy braking but with a black braking surface like the HED Jet Black which looks rather tasty. But at the moment this is a great bike and I really do love it a lot, just a pity it is a bike I will only use in dry and special occasion.
